Owning Your Prayer Life
Continuing with our theme of ownership, this month we reflect on what it means to own your prayer life. Prayer is the foundation of our relationship with God—it’s how we communicate with Him, how we align our hearts with His, and how we invite His presence into our daily lives.
But consistent prayer doesn’t always come easily. Life gets busy, distractions creep in, and sometimes we may even feel like God is distant. That’s why taking ownership of our prayer life is so important. It means choosing to prioritize time with God, not out of obligation, but because we desire deeper connection.
To own your prayer life is to make it personal. It’s recognizing that you have direct access to your Creator—not just in moments of crisis, but in everyday life. It means carving out space to speak honestly with God, to listen, and to grow in intimacy with Him.
1 Thessalonians 5:17 urges us to “pray without ceasing”—not because God needs constant updates, but because we need constant connection. Consistent prayer brings peace, clarity, strength, and a reminder that we are never alone.

At DuHope, we believe that prayer is not just a spiritual discipline—it’s a source of power and peace. Whether it’s during morning devotions, team prayer, or quiet moments at home, our goal is to nurture hearts that are tuned to God’s voice. When we own our prayer life, we become more grounded, more compassionate, and more aware of how God is moving in and through us.
In Kinyarwanda, the word "gusenga" means to pray. Taking ownership of your gusenga is an invitation to live a life of ongoing communication with God—one that is intentional, honest, and consistent.
So let’s be people who don't just talk about prayer, but who pray—faithfully, boldly, and with expectation that God is listening and responding with love.
