Hope Rising Book Clubs

A DuHope Community Experience

Read Hope. Share Hope. Create Hope.

Bring your book club, church, women’s group, or friends together around Hope Rising—and turn the conversation into an opportunity to help women in Rwanda build hopeful, independent futures.

Host a Hope Rising Experience

Tell us a little about your group and what kind of experience interests you.

Choose the experience that fits your group

You do not have to build a complicated program. Choose a format that works for your group, and DuHope will help you take it from there.

1. One-Night Book Club

Best for: Existing book clubs, small groups, neighborhood groups, or friends who want one meaningful gathering.

Everyone reads Hope Rising, then gathers for one evening of discussion. Your group receives a discussion guide and resources from DuHope. Jamie can join virtually—or, when travel allows, in person—for conversation and Q&A.

Fundraising idea: Set a simple group goal and help fund the next chapter for women participating in DuHope.

2. Four-Week Hope Rising Journey

Best for: Groups that want to go deeper together.

Meet weekly for four weeks to read, reflect, and discuss themes of hope, dignity, resilience, and rebuilding. Along the way, your group can learn more about Rwanda and DuHope’s work today. The final gathering can include a live conversation with Jamie.

Fundraising idea: Choose a shared goal as a group and celebrate the impact at your final meeting.

3. Bring Hope Rising to Your Community

Best for: Churches, larger groups, community organizations, or several book clubs in the same area.

Organize a larger Hope Rising gathering and invite Jamie to come speak when she is in your area. Your event can include book discussion, stories from DuHope, a Q&A, DuHope products, and a community fundraising opportunity.

Fundraising idea: Invite the whole community to help fund training, participant support, and pathways to dignified work.

How it works

  1. Read the book. Gather your people around Hope Rising.
  2. Choose your format. Meet once, meet weekly, or plan a larger community experience.
  3. Start a conversation. Use DuHope’s discussion resources to talk honestly about hope, dignity, trauma, resilience, and opportunity.
  4. Create hope together. Give your group the opportunity to support women building new futures through DuHope.

Your group can turn a conversation into action

The goal is not simply to finish a book. It is to ask what hope looks like when it becomes practical.

Groups can choose to raise funds together, become monthly supporters, host a DuHope product pop-up, or introduce another community to Hope Rising. Every group can choose the level of involvement that feels right for them.

Your group just spent time talking about hope. What if together you could help another woman begin to build it?
